Pray Piously for World Peace

An earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale rocked the Republic of Haiti on the 12th of January 2010. Tzu Chi Foundation USA Headquarters is monitoring the development closely and ready to embark on its humanitarian relief efforts. Master Cheng Yen, on her annual island-wide tour for the year-end blessing ceremonies, lamented that sufferings on earth are abundant and called out to Tzu Chi volunteers worldwide to pray piously for world peace.

Master Cheng Yen further explained, “Tzu Chi’s international disaster relief efforts extended to Haiti in 2009 due to the damaging hurricanes. This morning, I received news that Haiti was hit by a severe earthquake, which teaches us that disasters occur frequently nowadays. Therefore, I hope that everybody will pray piously for peace on earth.”
